Meeting called to Order

SAA Pang Hee Fone called the meeting to order. The meeting started with the members introducing themselves to one another and sharing their views on determination.

Opening Address by Club President:
Club President Neo Yen Ping kicked off this meeting during which we celebrated Singapore’s 53rd National Day by reminding us of how Singapore’s leaders past and present, particularly Late Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, set a vision for the nation and rallied all citizens to pursue the vision with grit and determination. She reminded us to revisit the goals we had in mind when we joined toastmasters, be it to become a better leader or better speaker, and to track our own individual progress towards that goal.

Special Education Segment I - Pathways

Eric Tan, PI5, from AIA Toastmaster Club delivered a very information presentation during which he shared with us how the Pathways program is designed to help us focus on the application of knowledge relevant to the selected path rather than simply focusing on speech delivery. He shared with us some hints, such as requiring the VPE or speaker to download the project description from ‘Print my Project’ and emailing it to the evaluator before the meeting.

He also spoke about Mentoring under Pathways, and introduced us to the Protege Success Plan, the Mentor Communication Log, and Mentoring Evaluation whereby the protege evaluates and provides feedback on the mentor’s performance.

Meeting adjourned for 20 minutes for munching and networking break.

Special Education Segment II -

Abhishek Kapoor, CC, delivered an easy to follow step-by-step live demonstration on how to get started on Pathways, such as registration on base camp, selecting an appropriate path, as well as accessing Level 1 project description and resources.



Table Topics
The table topics master Roger See, CC, CL, conducted the session wherein members were invited to hone their impromptu skill by speaking up to 2 minutes. He invited participants to pick out two random picture cards, and create a 2-minute story which integrated the two selected pictures. A refreshing session with an added bonus of testing the participants’ impromptu creative skills as well.

Club President TM Neo Yen Ping ACS, ALB closed the meeting by thanking all toastmasters and guests for attending the session.
