2. THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear esteemed members, greetings!

Changi Simei Toastmasters Club, as you know, is one of the highly successful Toastmasters clubs of Singapore. Kudos to all of you for that!
Just to remind us of how far we have come with our great collaborative spirit; we have achieved

Distinguished President award during every term since our club’s inception in 2002, barring one year. Our membership strength has grown with more than 60 active members at present. I wonder what is the recipe for such a successful club. Are we like the Redwoods?

Redwoods are the world’s tallest as well largest single stem trees. They live for thousands of years. How do these ancient giants gracing our planet for centuries, withstand the massive storms, frigid blizzards and devastating earthquakes? The secret lies in their unity! Under the ground, the roots of these redwood trees grow outwards, seeking the roots of other redwood trees. And when they meet, they intertwine making a permanent bond with each other. This way, all the redwood trees in the forest give support to each other.
Our Toastmasters club is just like a forest of redwoods. As each one of us is progresses in his or her own journey to be a stalwart in public speaking, an effective and positive leader; we also help others to progress. The bonds among the club members give constant encouragement to do our best and get better each time!

I truly feel that this camaraderie is not only the secret behind success of Changi Simei Toastmasters club but also all the Toastmasters clubs around the world.

Changi Simei Toastmasters club provides a platform to share ideas, inspiring experiences, thoughts; a platform to make mistakes, get constructive feedback and learn; a platform to meet charismatic speakers, leaders and like-minded individuals.

Being a toastmaster not only helps you become a better speaker and leader but also helps channelize your thoughts in hitherto unknown dimensions and hence be a better human being. Once you start writing speeches, you explore the side of your existence that you were oblivious to; once you start providing evaluations, you learn to appreciate the efforts of a fellow human being and once you start to lead, you learn to explore your potential.

I would like to congratulate all of us for being part of Changi Simei Toastmasters club. I am truly honored to serve as the President of this wonderful club. I thank you from bottom of my heart for all your contributions, which keep our club stand true to its motto - FUN to Speak & FUN to Lead!
